Our picks
Sobble: best overall
High attack and speed, and as a Water type it swims at full speed where other partners are slowed by water. Water Gun (a piercing jet) evolves into Scald with a Power card, and rain boosts Water by ×1.5 (weather).
Scorbunny: highest damage
The best attack of any starter. Fire starters open with Ember, whose Fire Blast evolution (Power card) adds +2 projectiles and +2 pierce. Weak in rain, strong in sun and in the volcano biome.
Slowpoke: safest
The most HP of all starters (110) and a dual Water/Psychic move pool, at the cost of the lowest speed (84). Good for players who prefer aura-style play over kiting. Note Psychic moves were toned down on 11 October.
Litten and Treecko: speedsters
107 speed makes kiting and chasing treasure thieves easy (events).

FAQ
What is the best starter in PokéSurvivor?
Sobble or Scorbunny for most players. Both have 92 HP and 107 speed; Scorbunny has the highest starter attack (1.09) and Sobble is close (1.08) while swimming at full speed through water as a Water type.
Can I change my starter after the personality quiz?
Yes. The quiz suggests a partner but you can refuse it and pick another from the starter list. Later you unlock more partners from the gacha.
