What is PokéSurvivor?
PokéSurvivor is a fan-made, non-profit game by the solo developer JPTER78, released on itch.io on 11 October 2026 and hosted at pokesurvivor.com. It borrows the "survivors-like" formula popularised by Vampire Survivors and Survivor.io: you control only movement, your Pokémon attacks automatically with its active move, and the goal is simply to stay alive as long as possible while enemy waves get denser and tougher. Its pixel sprites come from the community PMD SpriteCollab project (the Mystery Dungeon look), the Pokédex data comes from PokéAPI, and the music is original.
What makes it stand out from other browser survivors games is scale. Every one of the 966 Pokémon in the game can be your partner, each region has its own gacha banner, there are 64 moves spread across all 18 types, and rare rifts drop you into one of 18 type-themed arenas to fight one of 87 legendary or mythical Pokémon. It also has online co-op for up to four friends, daily and weekly missions, 127 achievements and leaderboards, and it runs in English and Spanish on PC and phones.
How to play PokéSurvivor (quick start)
- Open pokesurvivor.com and either create an account (name + password or Google) or play as a guest. Guests can start instantly but their progress is not saved to the cloud.
- Take the short personality quiz. Like in Mystery Dungeon, your answers suggest a partner from the starter list; you can refuse it and pick another.
- Move with W A S D or the arrow keys. On a phone, hold the screen in landscape and drag anywhere: a joystick appears under your finger.
- Your Pokémon attacks on its own. Switch the active move with 1–4, Q/E or by tapping its icon. Pause with Esc or P.
- Collect experience, level up and choose one of three cards: a new move, an upgrade for a move you own, or a stat boost. Max a move (level 5) and take the stat card it asks for to unlock its evolution.
- Spend PokéCoins between runs on permanent upgrades for that Pokémon, and spend tickets in the gacha to unlock more partners.
Where this guide goes deeper
Most PokéSurvivor pages online are a game embed plus a short FAQ. We do the opposite: we do not host or mirror the game (please play it on the official site so the developer's co-op and leaderboards work) and instead document the mechanics. Our numbers come from the official site and the game's public source code, and every page shows when it was last checked. Start with the beginner guide, check the tier list and best builds, look up any move evolution, or plan your hunt for legendaries and shinies. Patch notes live on the updates page, since the game has been patched almost daily since launch.
PokéSurvivor FAQ
What is PokéSurvivor?
PokéSurvivor is a free, non-profit Pokémon fan game by JPTER78 in the style of Vampire Survivors and Survivor.io. You only move; your partner Pokémon attacks automatically while hordes of wild Pokémon close in. It released on itch.io on 11 October 2026 and is played in the browser at pokesurvivor.com.
Is PokéSurvivor free?
Yes. There are no ads and no purchases. The gacha uses tickets you earn by playing and cannot be bought with real money. The developer accepts optional donations that only cover server costs and give no in-game advantage.
Where can I play PokéSurvivor?
On the official website pokesurvivor.com in any modern desktop or mobile browser (mobile in landscape). An offline build is also offered on the itch.io page; it is solo only and saves in your browser.
How many Pokémon are in PokéSurvivor?
966 Pokémon from all nine regions, Kanto to Paldea, all usable as your partner. 87 of them are legendary or mythical and only appear in rifts.
Is this the official PokéSurvivor site?
No. PokeSurvivor Hub is an independent fan guide. The official game lives at pokesurvivor.com. We are not affiliated with JPTER78, Nintendo or The Pokémon Company.
